Cusco is one of the prettiest towns in Peru and the day after the Inca Trail we made the most of a day off by sampling as many of its offerings as possible.
We started with breakfast in Jacks (still to be beaten!) and then Wayne and I took a wander around town, stumbling upon some random ceremony at the local college.
We then retired to the balcony of Norton’s bar over looking the square and had a beer or two while planning our route around Bolivia. We had booked our trip to Chatalan so just needed a rough route to Santiago – hopefully we can see the highlights of Bolivia, chill out in Mendoza in Argentina and then head over the mountains to Santiago via a ski resort (snow willing).
In the afternoon we met up with Pete, Amy, Richard and Sue to take high tea at the very lovely Monestaria Hotel, a gorgeous converted monastery who probably didn’t realise that 6 gringos fresh from the Inca Trail could put away very item on the cream tea table.
A light tea in the evening at a restaurant in town with a lovely view over the town finished off a lovely relaxing day.
Note to self – less bus journeys, more afternoon tea!
