Flying without wings

Holmenkollbakken is a large ski jumping hill located in the Oslo suburb of Holmenkollen.  Its 134 meters high and 30 000 people get to watch the slightly insane people trying to fly without wings during the annual competition each March.  A visit to the onsite ski museum includes a trip in the lift to the launch point where you can get a jumper’s eye view of the slope.  They start their kids skiing (and even ski jumping) anytime from 9 months old in Norway so I think all ideas of self-preservation  is bred out before the age of 10.  As for me, I could barely walk at 9 months and didn’t ski until my late 20’s – I am officially a coward and am taking the lift down!
