Pining for the Fjords

The following day we were up before dawn (9am!) to meet our guide for the day Karl-Ivar (Karl-Ivar’s Guided Tours – Private Tours ) for a day of fjords and photography. My trusty DSLR had stayed in my bag for the whole trip up until now as the new compact had performed so well but today was going to be a photo extravaganza so it was released from captivity and fixed to the tripod to try and do the incredible scenery justice.  Over the next  5 hours we travelled around the stunning fjords stopping at all the scenic spots – villages, beaches, frozen lakes, and even had time for a bit of whale watching, a visit to a Sami (indigenous Norwegians) camp and see some reindeers. These photos don’t do the beauty of the island justice

We got back to the Hotel around 3pm and recharged all the batteries, had some food and got ready to go out again… it’s time to go hunting!
